Civilian Sabers are 36 inches in all. This item is only available in the left handed version at this time. The Civilian Saber is modeled after real cavalry swords used by officers and troopers that were popular during the Napoleonic wars. The weight of those types of cavalry swords made them cumbersome for civilian use. Thus grew the need for the Civilian Saber which blended a scaled down military saber with the weight of a small sword. The original multiple bar hilt has been replaced with a spring loaded folding mechanism equipped with a single knuckle bow. The 4 inch hilt features an ornate British lion motif and a matching folding guard that locks into the scabbard. The reinforced real black leather scabbard has a polished brass throat, chape and hanging rings. The narrow slightly curved 32 inch sharpened blade is hand forged from 1050 high carbon steel and has a hard spring temper. These swords weigh approximately 24.8 ounces.
