These Tai Chi Swords by CAS Hanwei are 34.5" overall. These Taiji Swords feature a steel guard and pommel. The swords are correctly balanced and the the 28" unsharpened blades are crafted in fully tempered high-carbon steel. The flattened-diamond blade section produces a blade that is moderately stiff, while still allowing for some flexibility. Swords have a black composite handgrip and includes a black composite scabbard with nickel silver fittings. The handle length is 6.5", point of balance is 4" and the weight is 1lb 3oz. As always, specs will vary slightly from piece to piece.

Hsu Series Jian Tai Chi Swords

Paul Chen Hsu Series Jian with 28" Blade. Single Hand. Wood handle. Functionality, weight and balance are paramount considerations in Sifu Hsu’s designs, while Hanwei’s quality and workmanship give the swords a graceful and pleasing appearance. The blades are crafted in high-carbon spring steel and have a pronounced center ridge and distal taper, producing exactly the right degree of stiffness and a very audible hiss in the cutting stroke. The Ming-style steel guards have an embossed Dragon symbol, while the open ended pommels facilitate the fitting of a tassel. A unique feature is the "duck-bill lock" in the bottom of the scabbard that securely holds the sword in place.

Paul Chen Hsu Two-Handed Jian sword is 49" overall. It has a 35 3/4" high-carbon spring steel blade with pronounced center ridge and distal taper. Fiberglass handle. Ming-style steel guard with embossed Dragon symbol. Open-ended pommels facilitate the fitting of a tassel. A unique feature is the duck-bill lock in the bottom of the scabbard that securely holds the sword in place. Designed by world-renowned Chinese martial arts master Sifu Adam Hsu.

Hanwei Cutting Jian Swords

Hanwei Cutting Jian Swords optimize edge hardness and body toughness, ideal characteristics in a cutting sword. The elegantly simple steel fittings reinforce the sword`s mission, providing uncluttered lines while still remaining true to tradition. The black leather-over-cranberry rayskin grip ensures secure handling. A rosewood scabbard with fittings matching the hilt completes an attractive package. These Tai Chi Swords by Paul Chen have a 37 1/4" overall length. These top of the line swords have a 28.25" sharpened hand forged Damascus steel blade with a point of balance at 5.16". Sword has a rich grain rosewood grip 6.5" handle with antique brass finish guard and pommel. Red tassel hangs off of the pommel. Rich grain rosewood scabbard with solid bronze fittings is included. This sword is 1 lb 11oz.
