Practice Swords for sale include basic wooden, foam, bamboo and polypropylene construction. Practice using these types of materials can be both an effective and yet safer alternative than using sharp blades. The bamboo style, or Shinais, are often used for kendo and are treated as though they have a real blade. Basic wooden versions are modeled after Japanese training exercises using a simple wooden stick. This stick was called a bokken. Polypropylene swords are virtually indestructible and are constructed of black polypropylene. They closely duplicate the feel of a real katana while maintaining stiffness and cut resistance.
