Medieval Swords
Scottish Swords
Overall Length:
38" Scottish Swords: These slender swords typifies the style of weapons used by the Scottish and their Irish cousins in the mid 13th century. Its tapered 30 inch blade and heavy wheel pommel make it an amazingly balanced and swift weapon capable of both slashing and thrusting. Though the wheel pommels first job is to add balance to a sword, in a pinch this heavy piece of steel held close to the bottom of the fist could double as a bludgeoning tool. This tactic gave birth to the term pummeling. The forward sloped lobed quillons make it possible for a skilled swordsman to entangle his opponents weapon allowing him the chance to over power a lesser man with either a second weapon like a dirk, or simply by grappling the opponent and wrestling him to the ground. A leather scabbard is included with this sword.
